Dogs mourn friend’s roadside death
The dogs sat next to their dead companion.
THIS heart-breaking story is proof that dogs have amazing compassion… and will go the extra mile for a friend.
Contrary to what some might believe, this sad story also proves that dogs have hearts, souls and will occasionally shed a tear or two, just like us humans.
Recently, a Great Dane attracted the attention of a jogger, passing motorists and a journalist (still in her pyjamas) when he dragged another dog, which was either injured or dead, off the main road in Sea Park.
The Great Dane, assisted by another little friend (a scruffy white dog) pulled the dog onto the grassy verge a few metres from the road.
The two dogs then lay down next to the dead dog, one on each side, apparently mourning his death.
It would be heartwarming to think that the two friends emotionally comforted their ‘neighbourhood pal’ when he slipped quietly away to doggy heaven.
“It certainly was a touching sight to witness the two canines sadly lying with their heads on the ground next to their dead friend,” said a woman who witnessed the incident.
