Pie thief found hiding in cupboard

He enjoyed a substantial meal, but left without paying.

A MAN who supposedly ate four pies and sausage roll in a supermarket in Port Shepstone, and then walked out without paying, failed to make a court date yesterday (Thursday) and was re-arrested.

At the time of the incident, Marvin Coley (26) was promptly arrested for his alleged misdemeanour after being reported to the Port Shepstone police.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid confirmed that he had appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrate’s Court.

He was instructed to reappear but failed to do so, and so the warrant was issued.

Warrant Officer Patrick Gosling, who was off duty, was assisted by W/O Sydney Seaton and Constable Timothy King.

They went to his home in Merlewood where they found him hiding in a cupboard.

He was re-arrested and will appear in court today (Friday).
