ASTROTurf soccer is the latest craze and AMS –KZN recently arranged an AstroTurf soccer tournament where pupils could showcase their talent. Islamic School’s U13 team featured prominently and referees commended ‘mini-Messi’ Muhammad Dindar (gr 5), Yusaf Desai (gr 7) and Muhammed Idris Shaik (gr 10) for their talent.
The ‘A-cubed’ AstroTurf arena at Islamic School will officially be opened on November 5 and pupils are anxiously awaiting this to continue honing skills on their own AstroTurf.
The inclement weather did not dampen the spirits of Islamic School’s U13 and U17 soccer teams last week. Coach Shuaib Fareed and manager Yusuf Gangat encouraged teams to tackle established professional teams in Durban.
