RAIN once again interrupted cricket matches last week and both the U13A and B matches against Creston College had to be abandoned. In a match against Suid-Natal last Thursday, the U13B team scored 60 runs in 20 overs. With excellent bowling from Shaaid Khan and Anees Jantjes, PSSP bowled Suid-Natal Primêr for 59 runs to win the match. The U13A team performed well against SNP, who made 107 runs in their allocated 20 overs, and PSSP achieved 108 runs with five wickets in hand. The star performer of the match was Benjamin Geoffrey with 24 runs.
Last Wednesday PSSP’s U11A team won the toss and chose to field, bowling Suid-Natal out for 78 in 16 overs. They gave chase and scored 79 in 11 overs for the loss of one wicket. Top scorers were Ben ‘Junior’ Malamba with 37 runs and Declan Lloyd with 22 not out. The U11B team faced extremely fast bowling by SNP and was only able to make 49 runs in 20 overs. SNP reached the PSSP score in 12 overs and eventually won the match.
PSSP sports star Mlungisi Mabaso scooped three medals at the KZN Sub-Youth Athletics Championships last weekend at Kings Park Stadium in Durban. He was presented with gold for first place in the long jump and silver for second place in both the 100m and 200m events.
