Recycling pays off for Merlewood Primary

The reward from HCM was R2 000 each for second and R1 500 for third position.

MERLEWOOD Primary pupils took part in the Hibiscus Coast Municipality ‘Recycle, reduce and re-use’ competition for schools last Thursday at Margate Primary. Pupils entered all categories and after a long day of fun and ‘edutainment’, pupils returned to school bearing the fruits of their efforts.

They earned second prizes for the speech contest, drama presentation and poetry, and third prizes in the song, recycling, and arts and crafts (using recycled materials) categories.

Gr 8 pupils competed against other secondary schools in the Ugu district and obtained third positions for speech and presentation of drama.

The reward from Hibiscus Coast Municipality was R2 000 each for second and R1 500 for third position and it was indeed a proud moment when the group returned to school with seven trophies and over R10 000 in cash.
