MARBURG Secondary performed exceptionally well at the recent HCM recycling competition, with the school featuring in all four entered categories.
Darnell Kuerpersad (11A) finished second in the speech category while Pooja Moonsamy (11B) took second place in the poetry section with a poem entitled ‘My mum’.
Ivana Naidoo (11D) came first in the arts and crafts section and each pupil received a trophy, a certificate and a cash award towards the school.
Marburg Secondary strives to conscientise good waste management practices and this was evident in the school taking first place in the tonnage category, collecting a winning total of four tonnes.
Principal Saleem Vallee thanked teachers and pupils for their active contribution towards waste collection and recycling throughout the year, saying that their ‘going green’ initiative will continue for years to come.
