THE ‘Learn to swim’ programme is firmly entrenched at Creston College and affords all children in pre- and junior primary an opportunity to learn how to swim. As part of this programme, a new element has been introduced which gives swimmers the basic skills in lifesaving and water safety and these are considered life skills at the school.
The Creston Eco-maniac fund-raiser certainly created a sensation at the school and approximately R15 000 was raised towards the purchasing of water tanks. The water tanks will then be positioned to capture rainwater run-off from the school hall roof, which in turn will be used to fill the swimming pool throughout the year.
