SOUTHCITY Christian College matrics who received their Independent Examination Board National Senior Certificate examination results on New Year’s Eve had a special reason to celebrate the advent of 2015.
The college obtained a 100 percent pass rate, with 49 students obtaining a bachelors degree pass and 10 awarded diplomas.
Top student, Joya Tobler, originally from Switzerland, who joined Southcity in grade 2 and spoke no English, obtained seven distinctions. She finished in the top one percent with Afrikaans (90 percent), geography (97 percent), life orientation (91 percent) and life sciences (92 percent). She will be studying towards a bachelor of science degree in biology in Switzerland.
The school was particularly proud of second placed student Joshua Reed, with 99 percent for mathematics and 94 percent for accounting. He also finished in the top one percent in the National Senior Certificate for Independent Examination Board results.
Lindi Burger achieved fiveAs and Therita Erasmus achieved four As, while Kerryn Henson, Shannon-Lea O’Connor and Jade-Erin Saunders all achieved three As.
In total the school obtained 64As and 102 Bs.
