Port Shepstone Secondary strikes gold
The school scored an impressive 99.3 percent pass rate.
AN outstanding overall pass rate of 99.3 percent, once again catapults Port Shepstone Secondary to one of the top achieving high schools in the Ugu District.
An astounding 198 subject distinctions were achieved, in spite of the challenges of the new and intensive content-driven CAPS curriculum.
62 percent obtained bachelor passes, making these candidates eligible to pursue tertiary education at universities and 35 percent of the candidates diploma passes.
The highest achieving candidates Suhail Gangat and Ishq Ramsaroop, attained seven distinctions each and were invited by the MEC of Education (KZN), to a glittering awards function held to honour the provinces top achievers at the ICC in Durban on Tuesday. Suhail, placed second and Ishq fifth in the Ugu District have both brought accolades to the school.
Congratulations also to Pranav Badrinath (7As), Lydia John (7As), Xamishka Juglall (7As), Snethemba Mthembu (6As), Aleshya Seevnarain (6 As) and Laylaa Ebrahim (5As) for their overall academic achievements..
An impressive performance of this magnitude is attributed to the collective efforts and dedication of all role players, especially the principal, teachers, school governing body and the parents.
