Southport’s water is slimy
The water is so filthy that you can't wash or cook with it, says one irate resident.
A SOUTHPORT resident says she is tired of paying for dirty, slimy water.
The resident says she has been getting dirty water since the beginning of February. “The water is so dirty that I cannot bath, cook or even do my washing,” she said,
“On two occasions I have had to empty the washing machine into buckets because of the dirty water. My washing machine takes 45 litres of water per load and that was all wasted,” she said.
“Ugu will have to sort this problem out soon, as some people own holiday establishments in Southport, and many guests have complained to the letting agencies about the dirty water,” she said.
Ugu spokesman, Sipho Khuzwayo, said a team would be sent to trace the source of the discoloured water up to the reservoir.
“The water services department has also dispatched a team that will flush the system in the vicinity of the house. We will also personally do a site visit to check how the pipe network is configured ,” he said.
“The municipality sincerely apologises to its customers for this inconvenience,” he concluded.
