VIDEO: HCM staff demand answers

The municipal manager has been given 14 days to address these issues.

UNHAPPY Hibiscus Coast Municipality employees staged a protest outside the HCM offices last Friday, where a memorandum of grievances was handed to the municipal manager, Max Mbili.

Chairman of the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) Mondli Ncane said there were a lot of grievances from municipal employees which are being ignored by HCM management.

SAMWU through its constitutional mandate has resolved to write to the mayor, Cynthia Mqwebu, and municipal manager, Max Mbili to intervene.

Some of the grievances are: salary equalisation and absorption of temporary staff, the implementation of the transport allowance scheme, the HCM recruitment procedures, irregular conduct by certain members of top management, poor working conditions, payment of relocation cost for senior managers and the mayor’s unethical behaviour.

Municipal manager Max Mbili has been given 14 days to respond.
