Scottburgh, Park Rynie and surrounding areas came together in a powerful display of support, remembrance and hope at the Ultimate Dance Fitness (UDF) Cancer Fundraiser held at St Francis Primary last Saturday.
Hosted under the inspiring theme, Women Moving Forward, the hall was transformed with beautiful pink and white decor with each table adorned with pink ribbon centre pieces – a symbol of breast cancer awareness.

The event was filled to capacity as friends, families and supporters gathered, not just to dance but to make a difference.
The afternoon was filled with line-dancing, fellowship and entertainment. A highlight of the night was a story of hope shared by Prea Moonsamy.
A particularly moving moment for many was a candle-lighting ceremony where candles were lit one by one on stage in honour and in memory of those who battled cancer.

Sheena Kansiram, a UDF member, delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of Shereen Paul and the UDF team, thanking one and all for their support.
“We wanted to do more than just dance. We wanted to move forward as women, as families and as a community,” she said.
“Every person who bought a ticket, donated, decorated a table or even lit a candle has made a difference.”

The event was overall a resounding success, with proceeds to be donated to Wings of Hope Cancer Support.
This organisation (based in Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg) provides emotional support to men and women affected by cancer at point of diagnosis, during treatment and thereafter.
It is run entirely by volunteers and creates a warm and compassionate environment supporting not just cancer patients, but their spouses/partners and families too.

UDF would like to thank all generous sponsors and volunteers for ensuring the day’s success and helping make this donation possible.
“Thank you all for proving that when we dance together, we heal together,” added Shereen Paul from UDF.
