SOUTHCITY Christian College’s geography department was extremely grateful to receive the donation of an ‘Astro Meade Telescope’ by Dr Emil Hierhold of Southbroom.
Fully computerised, the telescope will be used throughout the primary through to college phases, to teach astronomy. “Astronomy has been somewhat neglected in the national curriculum in recent years, especially at gr 8 and 9 levels, and we have made a concerted effort to retain it in our geographical instruction.”
The donation of the telescope will make this instruction that much more effective and fun for pupils, and we are extremely grateful to Dr Hierhold for his kind donation.” said Michael Stanton, subject head of geography at Southcity Christian College.
Junior Primary held its annual swimming gala last Friday with Judah House winning the day, as well as the Spirit Cup.
