Chase that, says batsman Britz
Junior cricket is alive and well on the South Coast.
JUNIOR cricketers from Port Shepstone Country Club took part in the U13 Glenwood Cricket Festival recently.
The boys played well, with Chase Britz emerging as the leading run scorer at the festival.
He scored 120 runs over the three games.
This was some going as he was up against players from 12 teams from Durban and surrounding areas.
Richard Bormann had a pretty good tournament with the ball, taking six wickets in total.

When Izotsha Primary stopped participating in this event last year Nicole Klusener did not hesitate to enter a PSCC junior cricket team to take their place.
It looks like this will continue as long as possible as it turned out to be a great event, enjoyed by all.
Each team played three matches – one on Friday afternoon, one on Saturday morning, and one on Saturday afternoon, followed by the prize-giving at the Glenwood High main field.
In the first game, against Drakensberg (30 overs) PSCC made 279 for 5.
BJ Malamba made 88, Chase 64 and Richard 60.
Drakensberg only managed 51.
Wickets were taken by Chad Laycock (3), Zack Thiele (3), Richard (2), Kurt Sabela (1), and Chris Massey exacted a run out.
In the second game, against Northdene, PSCC made 141 all out. Top scorers were Chase (34), Chad (21) and Gary Massey (20).
In reply Northdene scored 115 for 9.
Wickets were taken by Jaco Victor (3), Hayden Wood (2), while Chad, Chase, Kurt and Richard got one each.
The third game against Benjamin Pine was affected by rain and reduced to 20 overs each.
PSCC bowled first with Benjamin Pine making 122 for 4.
Richard took three wickets and Chad one.
PSCC had scrambled to 81 for 5 after 14 overs when the game was stopped due to the inclement weather.
Chase made 22 and Chad 15. Jaco was at the crease on 19 not out.
* Meanwhile, Oliver Currie, Reece Murray, Bruce Bormann and Smilo Zulu have been selected for the Southern KwaZulu-Natal U11 cricket team.They will be taking part in the KwaZulu-Natal Festival (trials) in Durban from March 13 to 15.
