KINGFISHER BOWLING ASSOCIATION
Malcolm and Elliott team up well
THE Kingfisher Bowling Association green keepers’ pairs made a welcome return last Saturday, with a good turnout of players from 11 clubs, never mind the very impressive standard of play.
Winners were Malcolm Milne and Elliot Nqoko from Southbroom with the runners-up Trevor Celliers and Christopher Danca from The Bell.
The competition and refreshments were sponsored by KBA’s president, Lynne Bamber.
The next competition is the men’s and women’s fours, to be held on Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22.
The semi-finals and finals will be held at Scottburgh on Monday, March 23.
PORT SHEPSTONE
THE club is proud of those who performed well in the recent KBA singles tournament.
Congratulations to Wayne Muller (2nd, men’s seniors), Eddie Fann (3rd, men’s open), Maureen Muller (3rd, women’s open) and Jan Snyman (4th, men’s seniors).
The South Coast Herald women’s fours took place on March 5. Winners were Maureen Muller, Lesley Lancaster, Caroline Harris and Winnie Hess.
Runners-up were Yvonne van Mentz, Brenda Smith, Jean Marnewick and Val Erasmus.
NOMADS
THE LSC Nomads game at Southbroom last Sunday saw 36 players take part, including 16 visitors. Thanks to Southbroom for hosting the event.
Seven new members were welcomed, namely Sean Larkins, Janet Larkins, Graham Fisher, Monica Zunker, Dex Zunker, May Gates and Mike Ryan.
Thanks to Dave Slippers and Sean Larkins for their donation to the Nomads.
Winners were Annette Payne, Julia Moorley and Jean Bouverie, followed by Kobus Faber, Marie Rogers and Ann Saunder (of the UK).
In third place were Dave Slippers, Jim Ronald and Vicki de Beer. The sportsman’s prize went to Trixie Smith, Keith Roach and Dex Zunker.
Nearest to the jack was Graham Fisher. Thanks to Orange River Wines for the sponsorship. 50/50 draw was won by Maureen Roach
The next event will be the AGM which will be held at Margate BC on Sunday, April 12.
HIBBERDENE
THE nominated mixed trips played last Friday was won by Jan Venter, Tabie Jonker and Louise Shone. Second place went to Arthur Seager, Miriam Seager and Joey Venter.
The session prize went to Malky and Isobel McManus with Barnard Carpenter. A big thank you to Chris Shone from Harcourts Scott Bay Real Estates who increased the prize money.
The singles championship is in progress, all entrants are wished good bowling.
The competition this Friday is the nominated mixed trips sponsored by Hibberdene Pharmacy.

MARGATE CC
THE women’s fours had to be cancelled due to many participants, including Yvonne van Mentz, the organiser, having to travel to the interdistricts competition.
The Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips was held last Tuesday and the winners were Dave Hume, Gino Alilovic and John Keppler.
Runners-up were Clive Edmundson, Mike Berry and Alan Dinning. Session prize went to Rassie Erasmus, Jannie van der Nest and Mike Green.
Ken Hills won the 50 /50 draw. The women’s trips will take place on Tuesday, March 17 and the men’s fours on Friday, March 20.

MARGATE BC
THE Mooirivier 2-4-2 on February 27 was won by Trevor Hayward and Philippe Audibert.
Second were Roy Baker and Vicki de Beer. First session went to Clive Edmunson and Brian Smalberger and second session to visitors John and Janet Blyth.
The Henry’s Meat vouchers last Thursday were won by Alan Dinning, John Wevell and Jean Bouverie.
The Margate Panelbeaters’ men’s 2-4-2 last Friday was won by Athol Robertson and Dieter Scholz.
First session was won by Oscar Pienaar and Dave Aitken, and the second session by Clive Edmundson and Dave James.
The next quiz will be held on Wednesday, March 18 at 6pm. Entry fee and supper is R50 per person with a maximum of four per team.
SOUTHPORT
WINNERS of the Harbour View SuperSpar women’s trips played on March 3 were Inger Mitchell, Adele Reader and Val Boshoff, with Tammy Gibbons, Trudy Rush and Karen Delaney as runners-up.
The session prize went to Ann Barkway, Sheenagh Dempster and Corrie Parsons.
The two-bowl trips for Friday, March 13 has been postponed to July.
The South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 will be played today (Thursday, March 12).
The Dr Darryl D’arcy men’s trips will be played on Thursday, March 19.

ERIC Grierson and John Payn won the recently played South Coast Herald men’s pairs from runners-up Jan Snyman and Spike Maritz.
Bob Moroney and Peter Anderson took the session prize on 2+11
Tony Korb and Ruth Findlay won the Harbour View SuperSpar mixed pairs from runners-up Jan Huygen and Daphne Hounsell.
Chris Jacobs and Astrid Jackson took the session prize.
The next event is the Schooners Restaurant (in house) 3-2-1 scoring competition on Saturday, March 14, followed by 3rd Avenue mixed fours on Friday, March 20.
Members are reminded that tabs-in and playing times revert to 2pm and 2.30pm respectively as from this week Wednesday.

WELL done to Keith Harcombe on winning the KBA men’s open singles title and to Tina Barbour for coming third in the KBA senior women’s singles competition.
Congratulations to Trevor and Christopher for coming second in the KBA green keepers’ pairs competition.Winners of the Venture Inn/Jaxx open trips were Phil Myburgh, Murray Ross and Howard Frizelle.
In second place were Nico and Sandy van Niekerk and Glen Douglass. The session prize went to Hew Hodgson, Renzo van Niekerk and Martin Frizelle.
This week’s bonus ball (16) was won by Platon Nixon.
The Captain’s Anchor mixed fours will be played this Friday, March 13.

WELL done to Bob Francis on reaching the semi-finals of the KBA men’s midweek league, and to team Dave Hume who missed out on shot difference.
The Estuary and GP Security mixed pairs played last Friday was won by Steve and Jenny Rennie, with runners-up Sergio Ruperto and Val Smith.
Second session was won by Aubrey Hood and Louise Dry, with the 50/50 board going to Sergio Ruperto.
The next sponsored competition is the Peg & Punter mixed trips on Wednesday, March 18.
Good bowling to the team playing in the KBA men’s fours on March 21 and 22. Team names are on the notice board.

The winners of the Wingnuts mixed 2-4-2, in its new slot (first Wednesday of the month) were Ivan and Hazel Hosken, followed by Patrick Kirkbright and Joan Tracey.
Sessions went to Derrick Schorn and Nancy Hughes and to Hennie and Stephanie Vermeulen. Ivan won the 50/50.
The winners of Fruit and Veg mixed trips were Rosemary Esterhuysen, Orrill Day and Mike Ryan followed by Nelia Reed with Chris Haslam and then Alan Tyers, Gill Davies and Trevor Smith. Ken Habben won the lucky draw.
There will be bingo this Friday, March 13, where Russian hotdogs and boerewors rolls will be on sale.
There will be a lunchtime bring and braai this Sunday, March 15.
RIVERSIDE

Winning the Mariners Restaurant open fours were Doug Campbell, Elliot Nqoko, Norma Ronald and Julia Moorley.
Runners-up were Graham Fisher, Nico Mantoan, Mike Lyall and Rene Jover.
First session went to Patrick Kirkbright, Alfred Shusha, Duncan Biggar and Marianne Bester. Second session went to Olwen Gibbs, Chrissie Chancellor, Hazel Williams and Sharon Smith.
The 50/50 went to Sean Larkins.
The quiz evening will be held at the club on Thursday, March 26, with fish and chips at 6pm. Good prizes can be won. Quizmaster Elaine Harrison will test your grey matter.
MUNSTER

Overall winners of the mixed pairs were Tommie and Louise Dry. Runners-up were Graham and Anjie Gold.
