Happy grins over new kit

The new uniforms will give pupils dignity and confidence.

HIBISCUS Coast Mayor Cynthia Mqwebu is giving schoolchildren a dressing down… literally.

About 500 children from five high schools and 11 primary schools are to receive uniforms from the Hibiscus Coast Municipality this year. Pupils from one school gathered at the civic centre yesterday and, with huge grins on their faces, took possession of their smart, new kit.

“We understand that not all parents can afford uniforms. That is the reason we took it upon ourselves to try and assist disadvantaged families. New uniforms will give you dignity and confidence,” she said.

School principal Naphtal Zenda, from Xhonywa Primary, praised the mayor and municipality and heralded it as a great initiative which would make a huge difference to poor communities.
