More awards for ‘amazing’ dog
Sometimes Gaby wonders who is leading whom.
GABY Frey and her turbo-charged poodle Scooby have added more trophies to their already bulging cabinet.
At the recent KwaZulu-Natal small dog awards, Scooby was named top dog.
Triple grand champion Scooby has had what Gaby described as “an amazingly awesome” time of late.
“When you consider that she was on her death bed three years ago, and will be 11 years old in April, she truly is a one-in-a-million little dog,” said Gaby.
In October last year, she qualified to represent South Africa at the world champs in Luxembourg and ended up 28th in the world.
Then came home and took part in the KZN champs and became a triple champion.
She then went on to become the reserve SA champion in dog jumping in Johannesburg.
In Durban recently at an awards ceremony she was awarded top honours for highest qualifying dog in KZN in all categories, these being agility contact, non-contact and dog jumping.
Last Sunday, she won even more awards, when she won the small dog league for the year in all three categories.
She also won the award for the overall mini dog and the award for the oldest competing dog.
She was also the winner of two dog jumping competitions in which all dogs in SA compete on the identical course in every province.
“I thought you were supposed to slow down with age, but she just gets faster and faster and certainly keeps me young,” laughed Gaby.
