No water in Shelly Beach – here’s why
The water services team has attended to the matter to ensure normal water supply is restored.
IF you are without water in Shelly Beach, plumbers have found a burst pipe in Breakfield Road near Lona Road, and are working on the problem.
Sipho Khuzwayo, spokesman for Ugu District Municipality, said it has experienced a sequence of unfortunate events, three weeks ago, where there was a burst pipe on one of the reservoirs that link to the Shelly Beach Reservoir.
The leak resulted in the reservoir being drained.
Another pipe broke that leads to the Shelly Beach reservoir, which was followed by a leaking valve from the reservoir. The pipe was damaged by a private contractor working in Shelly Beach.
“This damage was not reported to the municipality and was only found upon investigation by the municipality,” said Mr Khuzwayo.
The municipality sincerely apologises to the affected customers due to this outage. The water services team has attended to the matter to ensure normal water supply is restored.
The municipality also encourages the community to report water leaks through their ward councillors or call 08000 WATER (92837) or (039) 688 5830/36 or SMS 44751.
