Update on THAT meeting: Ugu has plans in place for Easter

All technicians, technologists and engineers will be 'on stand-by and ready to tackle any technical issue'over the Easter holidays.

AT the ‘urgent meeting’ to which the South Coast Herald was summoned yesterday, (Monday) Ugu District Municipality  issued assurances that  plans are in place in case of  water outages during the Easter holidays.

General manager of Water Services, Lingi Cele, told journalists at the media briefing that no essential staff will  be allowed to take leave over the  holidays.

In addition, she said,  resources such as vehicles, water tankers and vacuum tankers will also be available to provide relief if needed.

“Our water service approach was to look at the areas that are of high demand such as Scottburgh, Margate, Murchison and KwaMbotho as they all have ageing pipelines causing frequent breakages and pipe failure,” said Ms Cele.

She added that all technicians, technologists and engineers will be ‘on stand-by and ready to tackle any technical issue’.
