Local stars light up talent show

It was down to five of the best South Coast singers.

STAR of the Twilight Entertainment’s South Coast Talent competition last Saturday was Wade Bezuidenhout (23) of Uvongo.

Gal-Lee Tal placed second in the South Coast’s most talked about and toughest singing contest.

After months of searching for the South Coast top talent it was down to five finalists, Londy Mtyhide, Samantha Louw, Johann Serfontein, Gal-Lee and Wade battled it out on stage for first place.

Wade, who is studying Jazz Guitar at University KwaZulu-Natal, said winning the contest was very unexpected. “I’m so happy. There was so much talent and everyone was so good,” he added.

The talented singer was handed first prize of R20 000 by popular Afrikaans singer, Theuns Jordaan, in front a large audience at the Uvongo town hall.

Afterwards, the down-to-earth singer and songwriter, Theuns, wooed the audience with his deeply emotive bass voice.

‘JD’ Naude, one of the partners of Twilight Entertainment, said the show was a huge, sold-out success.

“The idea behind this contest was to promote local stars as much as possible and to bring back family-orientated events like this,” he added.

He urged those who didn’t make the finals to take part in their next big event called ‘Skou Spel’ which will begin in early May.
