LAST week, masters’ students in industrial psychology, under the supervision of Dr Elrie Botha, (director of the School of Behavioural Science Faculty from North West University) paid a visit to Hibberdene Academy to conduct English and maths competency tests for gr 7 and 8 pupils, and psychometric testing relating to career guidance for gr 10,11 and 12 pupils.
These tests combine aptitude and personality traits to allow a better understanding of what pupils should consider when deciding on subject choices and tertiary studies. Feedback is provided on an individual basis where pupils and parents can interact with students. This allows masters’ students the chance to obtain valuable practical experience as required by the HPSA for their qualifications.
The academy will be closed next week for half-term because of the public holidays on Monday and Friday.
