SOUTHCITY siblings Denita-Sue and Britney Pieterse swam in the Nationals Level 2 Gala in Sasolburg recently and Britney (U15) walked away with four gold, two silver and one bronze medal.
Denita (U16 to U19 age group) was awarded one silver and two bronze medals. This remarkable young woman was in hospital nine months ago after massive back surgery where every vertebrae except two were operated on. Denita is an incredible example of courage and perseverance and has received a 100 percent scholarship for 2017 at the University of Frostburgh in the United States for swimming.
Denita-Sue Pieterse, Jarod Higgins, Coralie Jacobs, Jeandré Michau, Britney Pieterse, April Niemack, Megan Bircher, Tamara Venter, Sarah-Joy Pringle and Ella Drummond have qualified for the Ugu swimming team and will be taking part in the KZN schools’ champs in May.
Tayla van Rooyen (gr 7) received her KZN colours for Nippers and took part in the SA Champs in Cape Town last weekend where she was awarded gold for the long run and silver for flags.
