PORT Shepstone Senior Primary hosted its annual winter sports day last Saturday and is proud to announce that a record of 16 local schools took part in this huge event.
This year the event included a variety of codes such as hockey, netball, volleyball, soccer and rugby. A total of 77 teams were entered into the programme. Pupils from all entered schools did very well and thoroughly enjoyed the matches.
A big thank you goes out to all coaches and team managers for the hard work and time put into preparing teams for this event.
A team of teachers and pupils from St Martin de Porres School were special guests at the junior assembly held last Friday. Pupils were educated about the ‘Talk Sign Campaign’ aimed at promoting sign language as the 12th official language in South Africa.
Teacher Nelly Gambushe gave an interesting talk about sign language and the importance of learning sign language. Pupils were also treated to a poem presented in sign language by a deaf teacher and two deaf pupils and interpreted by Nelly Gambushe.
