Creleisha wins Miss SA Petite pageant

Her future goals are to one day become Miss South Africa and Miss Universe.

WINNING Miss SA Petite Teen has been a huge achievement for local lass Creleisha Moodley (13) of Shelly Beach.

Taking her modelling career seriously only since last year this talented teenager won her first contest at the Port Shepstone Beachfront Coke competition and quickly added the Margate title. By the end of 2014 she had been placed in the top three in a number of prestigious pageants and she made a good start to the new year by being named one of the winners for Ultimate Events Face of 2015.

“I did modelling just as a hobby and to have fun,” she says. “But after winning the first few competitions, I decided to go a little step further.”

When she started she was very nervous and felt very awkward doing poses in front of a camera with so many people watching. Her role model is Candice Swanepoel. “I want to be just like her. She is very confident in who she is and wants to be. She always believed that she would make it to the top and she did.”

Creleisha Moodley did not waste any time and went out on her first charity drive and donated lettuce and chives to Marburg Haven, which feeds many pensioners from Monday to Friday. Accepting the donation are Cindy Damas (left) and Vanessa Reginald from Marburg Haven.

Creleisha adds that she believes in herself and that winning this major pageant is a small step in the right direction. When asked what her parents first thought of her being a model, she says her family are her number one supporters. “At first it was just a fun thing, but when they saw potential in me, they backed me all the way. My parents are my support, my everything,” she says.

She adds that being a model and in high school gets hectic. “There’s lot of work, not enough time to play but, with God by my side, I manage both school work and modelling.”

Have there been any embarrassing moments?

“Oh yes, When I competed in Miss Jungle Girl, my dress, which was a boob tube, kept on slipping. Every time I stepped or turned a bit, my dress would move. Luckily it didn’t fall off completely,” she laughs.

For the recent pageant she used a dress designed by her mother, Vimmy and made especially by Stephen van Belkum of Stephward Estates. “I went into this for the experience and came back with so much more. The memories of the week in Pretoria and with my new family EMM, will be forever in my memory. I intend to use this title to the best and make SA Pageants proud. The charity Genesis will be my priority but I intend to use this title to help many other charity organisations,” she adds.

Her future goal is to one day become Miss South Africa and Miss Universe.

She thanks all who have supported her.
