The man had also attacked and stabbed a woman on the same day.
SPHELELE Cele (22) who attacked and stabbed to death Sibonelo Khuzwayo (18) in July 2012 was found guilty by the Port Shepstone Regional Court on Wednesday this week.
He was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for murder and five years for attempted murder.
Khuzwayo was found lying in an open filed in the Mehlomnyama area. He had stab wounds to his upper body.
On the same day, a 22-year-old woman reported to police that while she was walking home, she was attacked by a man known as Cele who stabbed her, but she managed to break free and ran away.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, said Mehlomnyama detectives investigated and shortly afterwards, Cele was arrested for the attempted murder.
“He also confessed to the murder of Khuzwayo and was charged,” she said.
