Tidy Towns Shelly Beach to Margate is inviting learners and their families to take part in a beach clean-up on August 29.
Everyone is to meet at the Margate Pier.
The clean-up, which starts at 08:00, aims to encourage young people to learn about the impact of litter on the coastline, oceans and marine life while taking action to protect the environment.
Youngsters will focus on collecting litter and learning how waste affects waterways, animals and the wider coastal environment.
The initiative encourages the community to work together towards a cleaner and healthier coastline.
Parents must accompany their children for the duration of the clean-up. Wolf Security will also be present.
Everyone is asked to bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and gloves.
Shona Aylward is a vastly experienced journalist working as a senior reporter. Aside from her extensive community involvement and story writing, she is also involved in creative page layout, and the various media platforms. Shona began her career with Caxton at the Southlands Sun. Previous to this she worked in the marketing industry for surf magazines. Shona is a renown 'greenie' and champions environmental causes. She is also Mom to a number of dogs and cats, and the occasional uninvited snake. When she can find some spare time, it's usually to the beach that she heads.
