Operation scoops up criminals and drugs dealers
Police rounded up 20 people for drug related offences.
A BLITZ operation held in the Port Shepstone area resulted in the arrest of a number of suspects for various offences on Wednesday this week.
Members from different units in the Port Shepstone cluster took part in the half-day operation.
Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said 20 people were arrested for drug related offences, seven for loitering for the purpose of prostitution, one for dealing in liquor without a licence, nine for business robbery, two for assault and seven for road traffic offenses.
Items seized include 134 straws of heroin, 109 grams of dagga, cigarettes, two cell phones, three bank cards, knives, a firearm and eight rounds of ammunition, and some liquor.
“Two illegal immigrants will also being dealt with by Department of Home affairs as they were found without the necessary legal documentation,” she said.
Brigadier Agnes Nxamagele, station commander of Port Shepstone, was the overall commander and Lieutenant-Colonel Edward Stephen was the operational commander.
Members attached to Hibiscus Coast Protection Services, RTI and Home Affairs (immigration) also assisted the SAPS.
