AS part of Port Shepstone Senior Primary’s social and community responsibility, pupils and teachers helped raise funds for Child Welfare in support of Child Protection Week.
A total of R1 900 was collected and handed over to Child Welfare at a special assembly last Friday. Sagree Naicker, manager of Port Shepstone Child Welfare, and social worker Bathobile Chiliza gave an interesting talk and presentation highlighting the importance of Child Protection.
PSSP thanks Suid-Natal Primary for hosting a fun-filled winter sports day last Saturday. Well done to the junior netball team who won most of their games.
The senior netball girls faced some tough competition and were outclassed by extremely experienced teams from Durban and Kokstad. The girls’ hockey teams also faced tough competition and the junior hockey girls won three and lost two of their five matches.
The seniors played three matches, of which they won one, drew one and lost one. Well done to all players and coaches for all the hard work put into preparing for the final games of the season.
A mini-cricket seminar hosted by KZN Cricket Union and the Department of Education was held at PSSP last Tuesday to develop mini-cricket structures on the South Coast. It was a very informative meeting and was well attended.
PSSP is proud of former pupil Khalipha Cele from the Southern Natal structure, who was present at the seminar to motivate coaches. Also present was Andile Phehlukwayo, another former pupil of the South Coast. Both Khalipha and Andile play for the Sunfoil Dolphins and budding PSSP cricketers were excited to meet them.
