WATCH: HCM workers take their grievances to the streets

Municipal management has asked for three weeks in which to respond to queries.

UNHAPPY Hibiscus Coast Municipal workers put their tools down and took their grievances to the street yesterday (Thursday).

The streets of Port Shepstone CBD were left with litter scattered around as there was no one to clean up.

The South African Municipal Worker’s Union (SAMWU) demanded a meeting with the HCM management to address their issues.

These included employment procedures, the firing of some workers without following the proper procedures and the filling of vacant posts.

After a short meeting with the municipal management SAMWU chairman Mondli Ncane, said HCM councillors and  management requested a three-week grace period in which to respond to the grievances.
