Update: N2 crash victims identified
The horror smash also claimed the lives of three women.
MOTHER of three, Colette Pistorius (39), was returning to Gauteng after a holiday on the South Coast when she lost her life in Monday’s horror smash on the N2.
Colette was travelling with her three children, a friend and his two sons, when the collision occurred between two vehicles, an LDV and a bus on the freeway north of Umtentweni at about 1.20pm.
The road had to be closed for several hours while the scene was cleared.
Colette, and her friend’s youngest son, Andries Gerhardus van Jaarsveld (11), were both declared dead at the scene.
Colette’s youngest son, Ivan, is in a critical but stable condition in a Durban hospital after being transferred from a Margate hospital on Monday evening.
Colette’s friend and the other children sustained minor injuries.
Of those travelling in the second vehicle, Ntombizodwa Annacetta Mkhwane (53), and another woman, who, according to police, has not yet been officially identified, were also killed.
The male driver was taken to hospital, as was the occupant of the LDV.
