Southport couple attacked, stabbed
It has emerged that the assailant had been released from prison in January after completing a sentence for house breaking.
A SOUTHPORT couple was attacked at their home in Bauhinia Road yesterday (Thursday).
According to police reports, the woman was sitting on her verandah at round 6.30pm when she was approached by a man who attacked her.
“When she screamed, her fiance heard and ran to see what was going on,” said police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
“The intruder then attacked him. A fight ensued, during which the man was stabbed in the chest, cut on the chin and bitten on the arm. The woman was stabbed in the neck. She managed to activate a panic button and the security company responded,” said Lt-Col Wiid.
The attacker was arrested. It later emerged that the assailant had been released from prison in January after completing a sentence for house breaking.
He will now face charges of attempted murder and house robbery.
