LAST week will go down as the most important week in the 2015 Creston calendar with the school’s 20th birthday celebrations. The first classrooms were erected in 1995 and pupils began schooling at Creston in January 1996. The ‘Founders’ Day’ceremony took place in the school’s amphitheatre last Friday.
It was a dignified occasion with marimba bands and school choirs entertaining the crowd. Pupils and staff members were extemely fortunate to be addressed by Sven Wikström, the very first headmaster of Creston College, who spoke about the history of the school.
The school really celebrated the 20th birthday in style on Saturday. The ‘20 years of excellence’ celebration attracted well over 1 000 pupils, parents and visitors, who were entertained by horses, a dog show, helicopters, dancers and, to top it all, Creston broke a Guinness World Record by fitting 1 000 people into a large letter C. Music, choirs and bands were the order of the day while visitors enjoyed many stalls and good food.
