MARBURG Secondary hosted its annual YI Gangat Memorial Speech contest recently. Pupils from grades 8 to 12 entered the contest, with two finalists from each grade taking part on the day.
Nomalanga Mkhungo (8B) won the gr 8 section and Anathi Siwisa (9A) won the gr 9 section. In the grades 10 and 11 categories Dayantha Subrayadu (10B) and Londy Mthyide (11A) claimed victory respectively. Anelisa Zwalo (12B) rounded off the day by winning the gr 12 section.
Adjudicators for the contest comprised Margate Middle School’s head of department (languages) Esmé Powys, Merlewood Secondary principal Johannes Venter and pharmacist Sarisha Ramasir.
