Jehovah’s Witness convention draws record crowd

More than 33 000 Jehovah's Witnesses enjoyed the 2015 ‘Imitate Jesus!’ Convention held in Durban last weekend.

JEHOVAH’S Witnesses held their annual convention at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban last weekend. The programme was presented in Zulu, English and sign language and, despite bad weather, over 33 000 delegates  from all over KwaZulu-Natal gathered to enjoy the theme ‘Imitate Jesus!’

The convention examined Jesus’ life as outlined in the Bible and emphasised how all, regardless of background, lifestyle, or religion, can benefit in practical ways from His example and teachings. The programme included a stimulating examination of Jesus’ famed ‘Sermon on the Mount’ and a two-part drama that re-enacted key miracles and events in Jesus’ earthly life. The crowds especially enjoyed listening to the key speakers and watching numerous video presentations on the eight giant video screens around the stadium.

A highlight of the programme was the keynote address entitled ‘Concealed in Him are all the treasures of wisdom.’ Delegates received free copies of new releases, a ‘Return to Jehovah’ brochure, a book called ‘Jesus – The Way, the Truth, the Life’, as well as a DVD entitled ‘What Is True Love?’
