VIDEOS: Four hour wait for Ugu’s help
A burst pipe caused havoc at Shelly Beach businesses.

A BURST pipe left three businesses situated in Marine Drive, Shelly Beach in dire straits this morning.
The first call to Ugu was at 7.30am. No response. This was followed by another three calls, all of which went unheeded. Desperate to get help, one of the businesses contacted the Herald just after 10.30am.
At 11.05am an Ugu team finally arrived, four hours after the first call was made. This delay resulted in thousands of litres of water being wasted and much damage was caused to the front of the businesses.
One business owner said that the pipe had lifted the paving in front of their premises, preventing customers from being able to park. “This is absolutely ridiculous. Four calls and a reference number later and we are still waiting. The biggest problem is that nobody can park,” she said.
The Herald has sent a query to Ugu’s communication’s department and is awaiting a response.
