Update: ‘Car boot’ killers sentenced

Lorinda Duncan was forced into the boot of her car before her throat was slit.

ONE of the men who murdered Lorinda Duncan (61) at her Sunwich Port home in February last year was sentenced in the Ramsgate High Court last week.

On Tuesday, February 25, Zimisele Emmanuel Doyisa (26) and Siyabonga Sifiso Mazubane (30) robbed Duncan before attempting to flee in her vehicle. When they failed to make good their escape, they  put Duncan in the boot of the car and slit her throat.

Detectives at Southport SAPS arrested Doyisa and Mazubane within 48 hours of the murder.

Instrumental in investigating the case was Warrant Officer Chris du Plessis.

The pair appeared in the Ramsgate High Court and on May 27 this year,  Doyisa was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances, 20 years for murder, and three years for kidnapping.

The second accused, Siyabonga Mazubane was sentenced on November 12 to 20 years’ imprisonment for robbery with aggravating circumstances, life imprisonment for murder and five years for kidnapping.
