PAST pupil of Southcity Christian College and Shelly Beach resident Adrian Edwards, who matriculated last year, has just completed his initial British Royal Navy basic training. The gruelling 10 week course is physically and mentally challenging, removes individuals from civilian life and trains them in core maritime skills for the Royal Navy. After that, phase two of their professional training commences.
As a fully fledged member of the Royal Navy, Adrian attended his passing out parade at HMS Raleigh in Plymouth on October 30th – an extremely proud moment for parents Anthea and Rod, who was also a seafaring marine engineer. He has chosen to study and train as an ETME (marine engineer) at HMS Sultan, Portsmouth, UK and will undertake land-based engineering training during the next seven months. Subsequent to that, he will be deployed to a Royal Navy vessel out at sea to commence his worldwide travels.
