AT THE recent Port Shepstone High senior awards ceremony, nine matric pupils, namely Rahul Bagratee, Jané Hills, Mvelo Hlophe, Kutloano Kapah, Sinqobile Mashalaba, Mbali Mkize, Justin Parasuraman, Alka Prasad and Tarish Sadanath were awarded honours for academics, achieving an overall aggregate of 85 percent and above.
Justin Parasuraman won ten academic awards including Dux of the school and Sinqobile Mashalaba won eight awards, seven for academics and one for Christian service. These exceptional pupils also came out tops in the advanced mathematics exam with Justin obtaining 98 percent and Sinqobile 94 percent.
Other outstanding achievers were Jané Hills (engineering graphics design and Afrikaans first additional language awards), Mbali Mkize (English first additional language, Zulu home language and best all-round netball player awards), Michael Botha (drama and music awards and full academic colours) and Eleanor Futter (consumer studies and visual art awards). Jessica Grove was announced as the 2015 sportswoman of the year.
