PORT Shepstone Secondary held its awards evening last Thursday and as usual, the school lived up to its reputation of academic excellence. Rising to top spot in gr 8 was Aerin Lee Martin with three distinctions. Tineal Govender scooped eight of the nine awards, placing her firmly in first position. Gr 10 saw Sershen Naidoo coming first and obtaining eight distictions and gr 11 pupil Karosa Moodley paved her way into the first position with seven distinctions. Top honours went to special award winners Kutloano Macuphe (sportsman of the year), Nozibusiso Luthuli (sportswoman of the year), while Delani Mdunge walked away with the ‘True winner’ award. Chanel Mevalal took the Rotary Club service to others award and third place in gr 12. Meshen Moodley took the Good Fellowship award and the dux approximé, but the superstar of the evening was Avuyile Wali, who obtained seven distinctions and the dux award.
