THOSE living in Nyuswa Ward, Izingolweni fear for their safety after a 76-year-old woman was robbed and raped last Monday.
Police spokesman, Captain Gerald Mfeka confirmed that Izingolweni police are investigating.
The woman was asleep at her home when a noise woke her at about 4am. She noticed a man standing in her room.
“The intruder was armed with a knife and demanded money,” said Captain Mfeka. “He said that if she didn’t give him money he would kill her. She gave the man R200 and he then raped her. He fled taking the woman’s television.”
Police are investigating and the suspect is still at large.
