House-sitter murdered in Hibberdene

The man's lifeless body was found inside the home.

A MAN who was apparently house-sitting at a home in Woodgrange, Hibberdene was murdered last night.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said no arrests have been made at this stage.

Eugene Halliday, director of AZA SOS said an emergency call came through from an unknown woman just after midnight asking for help as there was a house robbery in progress in Mount Pleasant Street.

Mr Halliday immediately responded, followed by police who arrived within minutes. The lifeless body of a man was discovered in the house.

He said the intruder or intruders had already fled, leaving behind all the goods they had intended to steal.

Some advice from Mr Halliday: Always lock your bedroom door when sleeping and never go out to investigate if you hear anything suspicious. Instead, phone SAPS or your security company.
