Just in: Parents shot dead in front of children

The couple was found in a pool of blood.

A SHOCKING double murder has left the residents of  Thundeza Ward, Nzimakwe (near Port Edward) reeling.

Sonwabo Majola (58) and his wife Florence Mpofana (56) were shot dead last night and their 10-year-old son was wounded. He is hospital and his condition has been described as ‘serious’.

“When police arrived at the house they found the couple lying in a pool of blood,” said police spokesman Captain Gerald Mfeka. “It is believed that the family was watching TV when three armed men entered the home and opened fire.”

The couple’s daughter was sprayed with pepper spray before managing to escape. In a bizarre twist, nothing was stolen from the house.

“At this stage the motive for the shooting is unknown and police are investigating. No arrests have yet been made,” added Captain Mfeka.
