Film academy set to roll in Oslo Beach

South Coasters are set to experience the practical side of film.

SOUTH Coast’s very own film academy will soon be up and running, with the first course expected to start next month.

Rob Gray, course developer at SA Film Academy, is operating from 54 Marine Drive in Oslo Beach.

Mr Gray believes that the industry needs targeted training and development with an emphasis on skills shortages. It will also help with self esteem.

“The path from script to screen extracts technical, operational and creative skills. These include scripting, directing, data wrangling and management, location, sound, camera and cinematography, lighting, editing and production. Various film companies have expressed interest in aligning with the academy,” he said.

The academy is now open for inquiries and interviews will be arranged on application. Applicants need to be older than 18, preferably with matric.
