Police bag 41 illegal firearms
A total of 208 live rounds of ammunition were also recovered.
FORTY-ONE unlicensed firearms were recovered in a one week operation at all KwaZulu-Natal clusters between January 16 and January 23.
Some 46 suspects were charged with the possession of unlicensed firearms. They appeared in various magistrates’ courts around the province.
Police spokesman, Major Thulani Zwane, said the 41 confiscated unlicensed firearms, included 31 pistols, four homemade weapons, two shot guns, and four rifles.
A total of 208 live rounds of ammunition were also recovered.
