Teen (15) drowns while fishing

Police divers eventually retrieved the boy's body from the depths of the Umzimkhulu river.

THE body of a teenage boy was discovered in the Ixopo area by two police divers from Port Shepstone on Wednesday this week.

Warrant Officer Marc Wiid and Warrant Officer Rommel da Rosa were called out when a report was received that the boy (15)had disappeared beneath the water while fishing with friends in the Umzimkhulu river.

Police spokesman, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said that W/O Wiid and W/O Da Rosa searched the river and eventually retrieved the youngster’s body from the water.

An inquest docket has been opened.
