Madeleine Pretorius has also been selected as one of 50 contributing authors featured in the international publication Watering the Seed: Stories of Hope and Resilience.
Madeleine Pretorius, a resident on the South Coast, is set to receive international recognition for her commitment to empowering women and girls when she receives the International Hera Award in Johannesburg on July 4.
This will be the second time Pretorius has received the prestigious award, which recognises individuals who are making a positive impact in society, driving change and creating opportunities for others.
The award marks another milestone in a journey dedicated to bringing hope, dignity and empowerment to communities across South Africa, particularly on the South Coast.
Pretorius has also been selected as one of 50 contributing authors featured in the international publication Watering the Seed: Stories of Hope and Resilience, which highlights individuals whose stories are inspiring change around the world.
As Mrs Courageous Queen South Africa 2025, Pretorius continues to champion causes aimed at improving the lives of women and girls, while promoting equal opportunities and human dignity.
She has also served as a brand ambassador for Princess D Menstrual Cup South Africa since 2023, advocating for menstrual health awareness and helping girls remain in school.
Her work has earned recognition beyond South Africa’s borders. She has recently been acknowledged among the Forbes Women Leaders of Africa and celebrated by Loani Africa for her contribution to social development and community upliftment.
For more than two decades, Pretorius has dedicated her career to empowering and inspiring people on their journeys of personal growth, fulfilment and success.
Reflecting on the honour, Pretorius said she feels humbled by the recognition.
“Receiving the International Hera Award for a second time is incredibly meaningful. It reflects the impact that can be achieved when we lead with empathy, compassion and a genuine desire to uplift others. My passion has always been to bring hope and opportunity to people, especially young girls and women, and to make a positive difference in our communities.”
She added that the South Coast remains close to her heart.
“Our coastline is filled with extraordinary people and untapped potential. Every opportunity I receive is an opportunity to shine a light on our community and encourage others to believe that change is possible. Together, we can continue building a future where dignity, humanity and equal opportunities are available to all.”
