Water interruptions for Margate and Ramsgate
Residents are angry that water has been wasted.
UGU District Municipality has issued a statement informing its customers residing in Ramsgate and Margate of water interruptions.
Spokesman France Zama said the water interruptions were due to a burst water pipe in Milton Lane, Ramsgate and Van Niekerk Road in Margate.
“Work is in progress to restore water supply in these areas,” said Mr Zama.
The Herald was contacted this morning regarding the a burst pipe from a concerned resident.
“This pipe burst at about 9pm yesterday (Thursday). We contacted Ugu and were told that no one works at night,” said the resident.
Another resident said thousands of litres of water was wasted. “If I waste water, I am liable to be penalised, so why not them?”
“We are so angry with Ugu for wasting such a precious resource, especially in a time of drought and water restrictions. This huge amount of water was wasted and left to pour out all night and this morning,” said the concerned resident.
