TWELVE Port Shepstone Islamic School pupils took part in the annual speech contest last Tuesday. The competition was tough and the audience of some 80 parents thoroughly enjoyed the diverse topics and presentations. The winners were Sabiha Motala (gr 12), Bilal Bux (gr 11), Zaeem Ebrahim (gr 10), Yusrah Razack (gr 9), Ilhaam Khamissa (gr 8) and Ayesha Desai (gr 7).
Swimmers took part in last Saturday’s annual AMS swimming gala in Durban. Waheeda Bux won first place for backstroke and Maryam Kadodia came second in breaststroke and third place in freestyle.
Muhammud Desai and Mohamed Hussain Shaik were placed second in the backstroke event. Razeen Mahomed and Ahmed Bux were placed third in breaststroke. The highlight for them was the relay team comprising Umar Farooq Desai, Muhammud Desai, Mohamed Hussain Shaik and Razeen Mahomed, who clinched first position.
