WATCH: SAMWU threatens ‘war’

In the turmoil unfolding at Ugu District Municipality, one protester was knocked down by a police vehicle.

THE South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU) has threatened to go to ‘war’ with Ugu if its grievances are not addressed.

Close to 50 angry Ugu water services workers marched to the municipality on Tuesday this week with their grievances.

They chanted that they had been let down by Ugu management and raised the issue of not having had new uniforms for the past two years, as well as making temporary employees permanent.

In a bizarre twist of events, a police vehicle rushing at high speed towards the strike at the municipal building, knocked down a protester. She was rushed to hospital with minor injuries.
