Carishma lights up the small screen

The multi-talented actor and model will be a presenter on the TV show, Mela.

MODEL, dancer and actress, Carishma Basday, will make her debut on Mela on SABC 3 this Sunday at 1:30pm.

An early birthday gift for the multi-talented Carishma, who celebrates her 29th birthday three days after her TV premiere.

Mela, which is a fun, fresh and vibrant magazine show, is the new revamped version of Eastern Mosaic.

Carishma, formerly from Port Shepstone, who now resides in Cape Town, grew up watching Eastern Mosaic so she was thrilled when they asked her to be a part of such a prestigious show. Carishma shot to fame after starring in films, 21 Million Reasons and Material.

“They (Mela) were doing a feature on my life after my career took off with Material. And I jokingly hinted that if they were ever looking for a presenter….” she said. The rest as they say, is history.

She said she absolutely loves being a presenter on the show, as she gets to meet and interview wonderful people, and is always challenged to do and try new things.

I am so proud of my Indian roots and I love that Mela celebrates that,”

Carishma has just wrapped up an international series for the UK and is shooting numerous international commercials.

She explained that this, combined with being an acting coach at Act Cape Town, teaching yoga and travelling the country to shoot for Mela, has made her start to 2016 a very exciting and busy one.

“I think 2016 is going to be a great year for me as I have so much to look forward to and so many exciting projects coming up,” she said.
